Twice As Many Stars is inspired by a poem entitled Two- Headed Calf, by Laura Gilpin. I find it interesting that this poem is often portrayed as a sort of tragedy, when I find myself thinking of it as a celebration of living. I thought this poem has a beautiful way of portraying both the beauty and the cruelty of life and death. I wanted to convey that duality in this piece.
